The Monastery of Paleokastritsa – defining your faith.

The eyes of the saint were following me. The colours of his clothes were perfectly coordinated, white, gold and ruby – a deathless tradition. His portrait was hanging on the wall, letting the sun smooth its uneven surface.

Corfu jewel – Canal d’ Amour, Sidari.

I took off my shoes and put my feet on the sand. The warm of it made me feel lazy for a moment. The smell of the sea and the recent rain hit my nose with a strong wave. Sidari was slowly packing the season up but still my mum managed to grab a bargain in one of the summer shops. A small church was rising in the middle of the town and I could see the top of its tower from the beach. When I looked in the opposite direction, I saw an island not very far away, the famous Canal d’ Amour, patiently letting small waves to wash it slowly.

My Corfu Birthday – Vistonas village.

Every day at Corfu I was waking up very early. My mum, sister and our friend Majka were still asleep when I was stealing myself outside our apartment to watch the sun slowly rising above the sea. The sky for the first 4 days was clear and smoky blue. Everything was quiet and still in the mesmerizing moments of the sun taking up the residence on the sky for the rest of the day. Even though each morning was similar, I was magically captured by its stillness and certainty of another fine day.

Discovering Corfu – Achilleion Palace and Sisi’s story.

When I read a biography of someone I wonder what this someone would think about what others have to say about them. Would they be surprised by the things said? Would they be pleased or annoyed? Would they agree or disagree? Is it even possible to paint an accurate picture of a person? To describe someone the way which would allow that person and the people surrounding her or him to agree on accuracy of the picture?

Playing the planning game … and why Barcelona City Card is useless.

I have mixed feelings about planing – I like being spontaneous when traveling, but I am time and money restricted too. As a full time working folk I have limited annual leave, but I am still determinate to get the most out of it. This year luckily I did a wise thing and planed all my holidays in January – I even bought all flight tickets in January, which saved me a lot of money. I used some of my credit card points for flights to Berlin and Bologna, managed to snatch nicely priced tickets with Iberia to Alicante and was fortunate enough to buy quite cheap tickets to Barcelona.  The most expensive trip is Corfu, as I need to get to Berlin first and then fly with my sister and mum to the island – but Easy Jet made the whole trip rather inexpensive in comparison with other airlines.
